How to determine your ring size

What is my ring size?

Buying a fine jewellery piece is a big decision. Stella rings are made to order to ensure you get your ring in the perfect size and setting. Taking a correct measurement is an important part of buying a ring.

This post will help you determine an accurate size before you buy your Stella ring. If you don't already know your ring size, download our size guide now and read on for all the tools and guidance you'll need to find your perfect fit before you buy your ring.

How are ring sizes measured?

South Africa, the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand use the same measuring system. Other countries, like the USA and Canada, use different scales. The system we use is based on the metric system and measures ring sizes in millimeters, with ring sizes indicated by letters of the alphabet. Half sizes do exist, so if your perfect fit is somewhere in-between two letters, you can request a half size fitting from us when you make your purchase.

How to get your ring size:

Method 1: Using the Stella ring sizing kit

The simplest way to get your ring size at home! Our exclusive Stella ring sizer measures sizes A-Z and is re-usable over and over again. Perfect for ordering rings online for yourself or as gifts for friends and family.

Simply insert the end through the buckle to form a ring. Slip the ring sizer onto your finger and adjust to give comfortable fit. Make extra sure to that it slips back over your knuckle without too much difficulty. After determining your best fit just read off the size indicated by the arrow and that's your size.

If your size is between 2 letters then it will be a half size eg. Between L and M then it’s L 1/2.

The best news? If you order our ring sizer we will give you R250 to spend on your future online purchase! Click here to order your Stella ring sizer now.

Method 2: Matching an existing ring to its size

If you already have a ring that fits you well on the same finger you are intending to buy a new ring for, you can use that ring and our size guide to find your perfect fit.

Method 3: Measuring your finger to determine your ring size

Using a piece of string and a pen, you can measure your finger's circumference.

Simply wrap a piece of string around the base of your finger, making sure it's not too tight or too loose. Mark the place where the string forms a complete circle around your finger and measure the length of string between the two marks to find your ring's inner circumference.

Match it against our size guide to find your perfect fit.

Method 4: Measuring an existing ring to determine its size

If you already have a ring that fits you well on the same finger you are intending to buy a new ring for, you can measure its size to determine your new ring's size.

Place the ring flat on a piece of paper and measure the ring's inside diameter at its widest section. Alternatively, trace the inside of the ring onto a piece of paper and measure its inside diameter.

You can now match your ring's diameter against our size guide to find your perfect fit.
